The Carousel Arc de Triomphe
31-Oct-1974
This arch, situated between the Louvre Palace and the Tuileries was built to commemorate Napoleon's victory at Austerlitz. The status on top is a copy of an original on St. Mark's in Rome. After the boat trip we walked from the Pont Neuf to the Place de la Concorde via the Louvre Palace and the gardens of the Tuileries.

Notre Dame
01-Nov-1974
The façade. On Friday morning (All Saints Day) we took the Cosmos oach tour of Paris. The cathedral of Notre-Dame dates from 1163 and was built in early gothic style. An interesting feature is that the nave and apse are not straight. This may have been deliberate or might just be due to subsidence. Other points of interest include the rose windows and flying buttresses.
