Paris La Conciergerie by Night 30-Oct-1974 On Wednesday evening we went on a tour of Paris by night. The next series of slIdes show Paris by night; it was not possible to take our own photographs so we bought some.
After the coach tour we went to a rather second rate night club.
The conciergerie was the fortress palace of the Kings of France before the Louvre.

Versailles The Palace of Versailles 31-Oct-1974 The front of the palace .. The centre part of the building is the original hunting lodge.
We visited the Palace of Versailles for the morning. It was rather a cold place, almost devoid of furniture. Our guide was a short man with very thick glasses, an obvious wig, a Frencheman with an English name - Mr. Clarke.
In 1628, Louis XIII was hunting in this area and decided that he liked it. In 1631 he built a hunting lodge. The main Palace was commissioned in 1661 by Louis XIV when he decided to move control of the state to Versailles. It was finished in 1700.
