Neptunes fountain and the town hall of the main city. The town hall existed in 1357, but the present building was erected in 1379-1382. The tower was built in 1465 and the upper stories added in 1486-1492. The tall steeple, capped with the figure of the Polish King Sigismund Augustus was added in 1561 by Dirk Daniels of Zienksee. Further additions were made in 1593-1596, 1766 and 1768. A fire in 1945 destroyed the building. Reconstruction was completed in 1970. Neptune's fountain originated in 1613 with a bronze statue of Nepture by Peter Husen. The fountain was started in 1633. In the periof 1757-1761, the new fountain pool and sculptures round the base were added.
