Attitash Mountain Village
Drive to the White Mountains in New Hampshire
We said goodbye to the Best Western Bar Harbor after breakfast and set off on the long drive across Maine to Attitash in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

The journey was uneventful and under largely cloudy skies. There was little point in stopping because the clouds were obscuring the views of the Mountains from below and also the views from the top of the Gondolas and Chair lifts. We stopped once for coffee in mid morning and for lunch at Macdonalds, arriving in Attitash in the early afternoon.

In the winter Attitash is a ski resort. In the summer, the longest chair lift becomes a scenic lift. Lower down there is a pool with flumes and an alpine slide. We all took the chair lift to the Summit, although Sue was not very comfortable.
Chris and I had a couple of rides on the Alpine Slide. The first was extremely cautious, the second a little less so.
We originally intended to go out for dinner, possibly on the dinner train, but it didn't work out. Instead we went to the "restaurant" at the clubhouse for Attitash Mountain Village. This was pretty poor. Ordering was chaotic, service was slow and Pizza Hut left them standing for quality.
