Weather

Mild and sunny.

Conditions

Snow in reasonable condition on most slopes. Lots of man-made on the main trails, worn on some of the runs without snow-making. All lifts running, crowded but lines reasonable.

Overall

This was day 2 of the weekend with Roy McKean.

After the tour at Alpine Meadows, we tried a fair variety of conditions, including long cruises, some bumps and some off the prepared trails, through the woods. We did keep away from the backside with its all black rating.

Easy Runs

Village - Run from mid-mountain to village. Well groomed.
Woodcutter - Good
The Gulch - Good

Intermediate Runs

Logger's Loop - Good condition, uncrowded, long intermediate run
The Woods (*) - Intermediate run down to the village. Good early, but deteriorated with bare patches and rocks.
Lumberjack - Well grooomed. Later in day the fresh powder was pushed into soft moguls revealing slick areas.
Main Street - Good conditions all day
Powder Bowl - Variable, lightly mogulled, some slick areas
Christmas Tree (*) - Steep slope to Comstock chair. Grassy areas.
West Ridge - Easy run from summit. Lots of surface powder kicked up during the day.
Luggi's - Relatively easy, steeper.
Klondike (*) - Slightly slushy, some moguls, no man-made snow
Hoot Owl (*) - Interesting easy moguls through the trees
Pioneer (*) - Relatively steep but groomed. Good snow coverage

Advanced Runs

East Ridge - Easy start, short narrow steeper section at the end
Delight (*) - Short steep, but flat slope
Crosscut - Steep, big mature moguls
The Face (*) - Steep, slightly slushy with grassy patches
