Les Deux Alpes
23 December 1991

Weather

Sunny, but started very cold.

Conditions

Ice at village level.

Overall

The second day dawned clear, but very cold. There was a lot of activity from piste-bashers before the lifts opened.

At village level, there was ice everywhere. The slopes that were heavily skied the day before were rock hard. Others had been attacked by the grooming machines. The fresh snow of the previous day had frozen overnight and was broken into rocks. Skiing was pretty difficult.

The lesson started at village level, but moved up to "Les Cretes" because of the state of the snow. The snow was better at the higher level, but it was so cold that after a couple of runs we returned to the village level.

In the afternoon, we returned to Les Cretes. Conditions were better but there were still extensive queues.
