Lazienki Park - The Amphitheatre

One of the most famous features of Lazienki is the amphitheatre. Built in 1790 it is a copy of the ancient theatre at Herculaneum. It comprises a semi-circular auditorium and a stage on an islet with permanent decorations in the form of ancient ruins. The auditorium seats 1500 and performances are still staged in the summer months. This shot shows the auditorium from South of the Palace.
